Pekka-

I posted this message about 5 days ago, hoping you could shed some light on this problem I'm having. Please, if you could offer a solution...

I am experiencing a problem with Linearsharpen 1 (and now Linearsharpen 2).

1) I adjust the middle input level to .30 in the Channel: Edges Mask window of the 1st Levels dialog box.

2) When I get the 2nd Levels dialog box, I leave all of the parameters as found.

3) Immediately after closing the second Levels dialog box, I get a message that says "The Object "Previous document" is not currently available".

4) I click "continue" and I then receive a 2nd dialog that says "The command "Set" is not currently available".

5) I click "continue" again and the action runs through to completion.

6) When I look in the layers pallette, the layer no longer says "background", it says "original".

7) Furthermore, it is no longer a 16bit mode, but in 8bit.

The real kicker here is that if I close the image (without saving), then re-open it again and re-run your action, it runs fine (the second time)!

Then, if I completely close PhotoShop, and reopen it, the problem begins all over again. None of my other actions are mis-behaving. I am running PIII's and P'Shop 6.0.1. I have had the exact same results on 2 different machines. Any ideas?

BTW, I experience this problem even if I don't adjust the middle input level to .30 in the Channel: Edges Mask window of the 1st Levels dialog box.

Thanks-

Sorry I could not reply I was on tour and the only netcafe I could find there closed while I was replying to posts.

I get the problem you have _sometimes_ and it happens only when you have more than one document open at same time. The source of the error is that when action tells Photoshop to switch to previous document, Photoshop cannot find/choose the right one for some odd reason.

That seems to be a known bug in PS 6. I'll try to find a solution to go around it.

Meanwhile, download 2.1 version released today and enjoy some truly amazing and realistic colors!

Pekka-

Thanks for responding. Just for the record, I NEVER have more than one file open at a time when I run your action and experience the problems I have described.

On a different note, I d'loaded LinearAction 2.1, and do NOT seem to be experiencing the aforementioned problem with this new version. Also, the new curves are much more realistic to my eye. Thanks.

One last question- apparently the 100-400 draft version converts the final product to 8bit, yes? (At least it did on mine). How can I select the 2nd (ISO 100-400 set levels)version that allows me to set the edge mask curves (I prefer .30 for the mid-point in the first dialog box), and batch run this on an entire folder of files without having to stop and adjust each one to .30?

Thanks-

Cheers
