When you do a wedding what is the one photo that you always do and why?

the kiss....or the rings....either way they are some of the most important ones!

If there was one photo you just had to have , well, I'd say that should include the couple, no? ;-)

Of course, but what would they be doing?

I try to get a setup shot of the wedding register and use it as a background for magazine style albums.

beside a picture of the B & G, I would say their parents.... the last thing you want is to hear is the parents or parent-in-law bitching. especially if they are the one writing the check to you.

An example of using register as background. My apologies for the quick edit (botchup) well after my bedtime.

Besides all the usual shots I make sure I take a few of the group shot area - without anyone in the shot. That way I always have an unblemished background if I need to clone out people/champagne glasses/dogs etc etc.

Aside from the standard wedding photography pictures that everyone wants. I try really hard to get at least one good PJ shot of the bride interacting with her father. Not posed, PJ style.

I find couples always like a shot of them exchanging the rings, so I make sure I always take this shot.

Oh there's lots!! I always tell my husband that it's the small details of the day, that make the best shots. But if I have to pick....my top 5 are:

1. Bride and Groom in a romantic kiss (not "the" kiss necessarily, but "a" kiss w/o anyone else in the pic.)
2. When they first hold hands and look into each others eyes at the alter (that one Love to slant the camera a little and do in B&W for interest)
3. An exteme close up of the flowers.... not necessarily the bridal bouquet its self, but any of the wedding day flowers...
4. The rings (either before the ceremony in their boxes, or after in a hand shot of the bride and groom)
5. And last but certainly not least.....The parents & Grand parents. Just any close-ups of their faces during the ceremony (tears, laughter, quietness)....they just say alot about how proud they are of the couple through those expressions, and that's always something the bride and groom love to see after the whole wedding day crap is over with.

Father's kiss (after escorting bride), B & G kiss (which can happen almost anytime), and rIngs. There are so many to get. Depends on your time frame and your customers and what they want.
