Have neatimage and never use it anymore. It makes everything look far too plastic.
Have CS and never use it.It's WAY too stupidly, idiotically complicated! I use my fully legal version of elements 2 instead ;)
About the only other thing that comes to mind is Irfanview,a very quick, high quality image viewer. It's free too with no adds or spyware!

Sorry Ron, I dont like Firefox. You have to download tons of plugins just to see flash pages and java scripting. Let alone, any webpage made using Photoshop. Im not into that.

I like FF because I'm used to it and it's the same on UNIX, Mac and Windoze. It's nice to have continuity! :-)
I'd never heard of Crazy Browser. I might have to try it sometime...

I don't care for Firefox for the same reason. I tried many different browsers, I didn't like most of them. I ended up making my own.

Hmmm, I must have obviously missed something because I use FF all the time but I don't remember installing any kind of plugins outside of the initial install I did of FF (this is on the Mac; I do know that my FF on the work PC won't allow me to play flash files--can't even install the plugin for it).

Unfortunately, very rarely! I subscribe to the "Yeah it's a good idea, but what are the odds of it happening to me?" train of thought.
Of course, while using Windoze, I've formatted the hard drive for a new OS and forgotten to get everything backed-up first!
A few months ago I backed up all my photos onto dual-layer DVDs, but since then I've taken a bunch of photos I really wouldn't like to lose. I guess I really need to do that more often, at least!
I have Retrospect 6, and have had the program since 1998 or so, but I've never gotten it to work correctly. Not sure why I keep buying it! I'm not sure if the problem is operator error or the media I've tried to use...

I use SuperDuper! to create a bootable copy of my system drive on one of my external drives which has been partitioned into 3 logical drives so that I can have a bootable backup of my iBook system drive and two copies of my PowerMac system drive. I also have backup copies of my other hard drives.
I've already experienced a problem after installing an update to 10.4.? where I couldn't get the system to boot up. Fortunately, I had a good bootable backup on an external drive so I was able to recovery the system pretty easily. (Turned out that one of the aftermarket disk utility software that came with my harddrive enclosure for monitoring disk performance was screwing up my system. Needless to say, that software is no longer on my system.) Now, I always backup my system drive before installing any kind of updates to it.

Actually, I had forgotten that I used SuperDuper when I changed my main hard drive from an 80GB to a 200GB. It worked flawlessly! I should get another large hard drive and dupe at least the stuff I can't stand to lose...
I've never had a problem updating the OS, though I've heard of it happening...

I thought I'd post my favorite PC antivirus and anti-adware/spyware apps:
1) Lavasoft AdAware SE (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5) (free)
2) Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html) (free)
3) AVG AntiVirus: Free Edition (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5) (free!)
4) ZoneAlarm Free (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp) Firewall (free)
AVG in particular is good! Works better than McAfee and Norton, and it's free! Plus, it doesn't cause problems like the other two seem to quite often. (at least, I never had any problems with it)

I sure dont miss all those virus scanners, spyware scanners, firewalls, etc... They are a pain in the ass! But I have to admit, ZoneAlarm did work great when I had it.

deskshade (hides all files on your desktop)
You actually have an application to hide files on your desktop? I just tell my desktop to display as a webpage and then not select a web page and they all disappear. Does deskshade do something beyond hiding stuff?

i hate when my entire desktop is cluttered with tones of files and icons so deskshade hides them by pressing the F6 button and brings them all back by pressing the F6 again..

Judging from his list of applications, he's using a Mac. You're describing an option on a PC. The Mac may not have that.

Command + H on a mac hides the program currently open, I find fast user switching very convenient. I have my one desktop with all my crap and mess on it, then just switch to other, and its gone! :)

He likely means he uses a linux machine to protect his network, something along the lines of this, http://www.smoothwall.org/
Just as a passing point, I have run PS in linux in the past, through vmware/NT4 on an SMP (dual processor) machines, plenty fast at the time. The multiple desktops in linux are useful and fast, unlike the windows attempts I have seen.
My favourite programs, none. Just the right tool for the right job.
Most fun programs, have to be RomeTW and Battlefield II, I'm a sucker for a game, do they count? ;)
