420EX handbook does not yet give feature availablity for the D300.
Which camera listed will match the D300's features?
Thanks experts.

I have a 420EX with my Rebel. The problem is that while the TTL functions well. The problem is that there is no flash adjustments with the camera or flash. I would get the 550EX instead so that you can have more control over the outcome. I took around 50 portraits on Tuesday and bounced the flash off the ceiling, the problem is that my photos were under exposed...Dean

Just an update. I took another 50 or so portraits today and I up the exposure by almost a stop and the flash seemed to be better today. I guess if there is no flash compensation than you can mess with expose and trick the flash to give more or less power...Dean

Surely you DID NOT mean TTL flash mode.
What did you really mean?

I used to use a 420EX (remnants of my G3 days) with the 300D and because it does not allow flash compensation on the camera or the flash, I am at the mercy of the ETTL metering. Even if I get underexposed, I cannot increase the flash.
In the end I got a 550EX instead as it offers better control over the flash.
Hence, my advice is to get 550EX instead.

I think what you are saying is that there are no features? Just point and shoot bearing in mind the different characteristics dependent upon camera mode selected?
Why not study histogram and set under/over expose as suggested?
550EX is an expensive solution. Anybody want to swap a 420EX for a 550 (+ some dough of course!)?
