I've been away in Dubai, taking many, many pictures. So I ordered myself some new kit for my much neglected 350d - battery grip, lenses etc. I get home, looking forward to trying it all out, but wait - where's my camera? Ah, that's right, it's still at the airport on a trolley where I left it, causing a bomb alert.
Moral of the story - be more than paranoid when you have your camera with you. I still can't believe what I did...
Now I'm sat here with all this new kit and, err, no camera to put it on...

well yeah... i honestly nearly broke down and cried when i realised what had happened. I am the luckiest man alive. After the bag was approached by men with big guns, they took it off to lost property. I confirmed the contents and now I can get it back. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and get it sent out by courier. I'm really, really lucky!

I left mine at a restaurant one time. Drove all the way home before I realized it. Got it back though. Good luck on getting it back.

Good to hear it's on its way back. Try and rest easy until it gets back into your hands and breathe a sigh of relief that you didn't leave it Heathrow (better known as thiefrow.)

Well I spent the whole day going down to london to fetch it... they were very good about it. Apparently someone had seen us drive away without picking it up so security took it in. I had to pay a little to get it back but I didn't care!
The only problem now is that I've just bunged my new grip and lens on and... I really love it, and its made me want to spend money I dont have even more! on top of that, I really am wishing for a camera with a better viewfinder than the 350 has, it does my head in that it crops the top of the frame in the viewfinder and you have to compensate all the time...

I have a similar story, just bought a brand new 20d+bg-e2 grip+17-40 f4 L, took it to Vegas clutching it with two hands whereever I went, finally sat down at a blackjack table holding my camera, the pit boss told me no cameras on the table so I placed on the floor just in front of me. After an hour of playing and losing of course, I decided to move to another table, played there for about half an hour then realizing my camera wasn't with me. I ran like hell to the first table and prayed like hell hoping my camera was still on the floor, quest what, it wasn't there, I asked the dealer if anyone returned a camera to lost and found, luckily he said yes.
To make a long story short, a new player sitting on the table turned it in, boy was I relieved, thanked him so many times that he probably got sick of me, the funny part is that I left my money on the second table when I made my mad dash, didn't really care about the cash, only the camera. Almost dropped a Canon in Vegas! lol.

Oh! I am really happy you are getting back. I can imagine the heart wrenching feeling it causes to see your camera lost.
I am a similar kind of person who keeps loosing things. I forget jackets on the chair, sunglasses on the table, ... But if I loose my camera I can't replace that in a jiffy. So I have laid down my rules - always have the straps around the neck, always keep it on the bag, never leave it on the table, etc... But still there was an occasionl when I nearly left it on the table and walked out! Someone called me back and pointed out!!

Makes me wonder about humankind. For those of us who forget our gear...I wonder. For those good souls who turn it in...gives me hope.

I was travelling with my camera for the first time. Was soo careful I wouldn't forget it in a taxi, on the island we visited etc. Then I got to the airport for my flight home.
When I arrived in Stockholm I suddenly realise my bag's not with me. No camera, lenses or house keys! God, went bananas. Turns out I had forgotten it in the x-ray machine at the airport. Had to ask to have my Gothenburg flight rescheduled & wait for the camera to arrive with the next plane to Sthlm.
Let's just say I was relief it was all there. My parents just shook their heads...

But, umm, i DID leave it at heathrow! Does that make me even luckier :P
I tell you, there is no sinking feeling worse than realising you've left something entirely in the hands of fate...
I won't let the thing out of my sight now. On my way home yesterday with it, I sat it on me and held it with both hands :P On the train I wanted to sleep but forced myself to stay awake as well.
Paranoia? Never...
...what's that sound? :P

Was at the Smithsonian on Wednesday last week with my 2 boys and their friend. We walked about 5 miles before ending up at the museums with Nifty. I was exhausted, to the point that whenever I saw a bench or chair, I was in it. My kids ran off to see things within a few yards of me and would return in order to lift me up again to go to another exhibit. One time I sat for about 10 minutes, so tired I couldn't imagine getting up again. The boys came back and almost had to carry me (which is no small feat). I walked about 10 feet away from the bench and said, "I'm too light, I'm missing something." I turn around and my holster bag with 20D and 17-40L on it were sitting right there on the bench, behaving itself very well. I RAN back to the bench and quickly secured it onto my shoulder. Didn't need to take a caffeine pill, that woke me up real good! :)

Oddly enough, my camera bag is pretty much the only thing I've ever left anywhere. It's been locked into the gym at school when it closed, and into a classroom at the end of the night. Both times it took me like 10 minutes before I noticed I didn't have it, I was lucky to find someone with keys both times. I also left it at work once and had driven about 5 miles back home before I realised it. I don't think I've ever left anything else anywhere, that bag just has some sort of field around it that makes me forget it:p
