These shots show how beautiful the Fantail looks when flying, the feathers are well spread out.

Sigma 70-300 APO, 1/1000, ISO800.
Would have loved to use the 200 2.8 L but I don't have it anymore :(
They're 100% crops.
Just couldn't keep any of the little buggers that got closer in the sights long enough.
Who am I kidding, In the sights at all :(
At least ducks are easy :)

They dont stand still at all. Kingfishers have the opposite but you can get close best I ever did was with 20D and bigma then they were still very small.
Great captures

Thanks.
I thought "right it's time I did this properly."
and ended up with 15 keepers from 120 shots :D
Including a sequence of the duck jumping from rock to rock and into the water.

Fran -- good captures, outstanding effort! It is indeed difficult catching these birds still enough for a decent pic with their fans spread in glory. I have difficulty myself in spite of the fact that the tree is less than 5 meters from the deck.
