I took a few candid shots of my son on our front porch. What do you think of these pictures?

I'm looking for feedback on composition, PP, B&W and over-all impression. I'm not a pro... so, take it easy.

I'm very new at this so I hope that I post these pics the correct way...

Thanks
Chris

Go to your gallery, copy the url of the image you want to show. Click on the little postage stamp looking thing (yellow w/ mountain) then paste the url in the box and click ok. Do that for each image you want to show.

First, very cute kid. However many you take, you'll wish for more later and be very thankful for the mere 30,000 you did take.

The photos look great. I'm thinking the BW looks a little flat though. What method did you use for BW?

To be honest, I'm not sure what method I used either. I've been messing around with Bibble, Raw Shooter and PS CS2 to find the best workflow for RAW and I really can't remember (that speaks to the fact that I don't have a process - I'll take suggestions).

I thought the same thing about the pics - they do look flat. I couldn't figure out a good way to describe it.

I took some pics of my kids at X-mas in B&W and they were more contrasty... I'm not sure if this is due to technique or the fact that these pics show their clothes which happen to be dark??

Wow, great looking kids! Really like the 2nd set. Like the eye level camera perspective.

I confess I'm no expert in B&W conversion. There's ample discussion of it here and a search should turn up a winner. Maybe somebody can post a link to their favorite thread on the matter.

I really like the RSP workflow, mainly for the way you can tag the files.

I love number one pic your kids are adorable.

I use the channel mixer for B & W conversion then if its a lil flat I boost up the contrast.

Thanks for your nice comments everyone.:D

I have touched up 2 of the pictures of my son - I sharpened them (I don't think that I did that on the original pics that I posted) & I adjusted levels.

I think this was a good improvement - they don't look as flat & have a bit more contrast to them.

Comments?

Thats much better the B & W conversions just take some practice the good thing is practicing and undoing and practice some more cost nothing at all to do.
