A problem with my NEW G3

I'm experiencing a problem with my new G3. Only had it about a week. The problem is that occasionally it just goes dead, like the battery is dead. No controls work. The battery life indicator says the battery is ok. I can remove the battery and put it back in and everything starts working again. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or a problem that should have me sending the camera back to the dealer. Help is appreciated.

It shouldn't do that - looks like you might need to send it back. But before you do, take out the battery and look at the contacts. See if there's anything unusual about them. Look in the battery bay on the camera and see if there's anything out of place in there, like a stray piece of plastic, paper, etc..

I was sort of wondering if it could be the battery itself. I bought a generic battery off e-bay and I've been using it. I took it out and put the canon battery in to see if the problem repeats itself. Thanks for the help everyone.

Returned the camera yesterday - vendor was very helpful. They are sending out a replacement cam. Thanks for the help everyone.
