well, i just bought EOS 10D and tokina 80 200 F2.8. I am not sure whether any other user use this lens as well.

when I shot at F2.8, the image on the view finder is clear and sharp. however, when caputured on EOS 10D, the image appears to be blur....and very soft at F2.8. The sharpness becomes better when reduce the aperture value...

the optics of the lens is clean.....

Hii,

I too have the same combination (see below) and can honestly say that the lens produces stuuningly sharp images each and every time.

"When captured on the EOS 10D, ...", do you mean the preview on the 10D appears to be blurred? I've only had the camera for less than a week and have noticed that the immediate preview is blurry but that within a second or two it pops into true sharpness. Thus happens as the camera is still recording the image to the card (in my case a Microdrive) - when the red light goes off the sharpening is effected.

Cheers,
Barry

Hi Barry,

thanks for the reply.

I heard abt the sharpness of this lens. I am confused about the results i am getting. the image simply seems out of focus at f2.8.

well, the images were all viewed in my PC in fact. I have done some testing by myself

have tested the lens at F2.8 in almost all kind of conditions.

all the following tests were on tripod

and all tests were shot at F2.8 ~ F32

1: i have tried to shot the object from inifinity at F2.8

2: shortest focusing

3: object between infinity to shortest focusing distance

but when i enlarged the F2.8 images, the whole image just seem to be out of focus and the contrast is low...

i just sent the lens to the tech. Now they are testing it. but the tech said the lens looks perfectly alright in the view finder...
