Panza's poll with the "public" option...
Sorry I could not create a new poll in the existing thread, or change the current pool to "Public"... so a new thread had to be created.

I voted for the 300 f/2.8L. It's a great lens that can be hand-held for long periods without over-fatiguing the user. Quality with TCs is acceptable.
Guess that's why I sold my 500 f/4. It, too, is a great lens, but just enough bigger that hand-holding is really out of the question for me.

Probably more like 80% or more,. but that's beside the point?
I think the title makes it evident what the subject of the poll is?
If you don't have one then you don't vote.

Yeah.. you can pick all if you want.. but you can only vote once! :)
Looks like I'll be looking up Pjsun (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/member.php?u=48926) who claims to own the 1200mm.. maybe he'll rent it to me for a day?

pretty clueless omission if you ask me.
seems to me the percentage not owning any of these lenses is important to the outcome.
i think i'll just vote for the 1200 again because i want to cast my vote :D .

why not add the sigma 500 f4.5 on here? I'd be interested in knowing how many people have that instead of the canon 500 f4.

It looks like the OP wanted the survey restricted to Canon Lenses. "Which non-Canon Super Tele Prime do you own?" might be a topic for a future survey.

To be honest I don't see the point in these polls if some members cast fake votes. There is no way I believe two members here own the 1200 mm.

Jeez, I have several Canon Super-Teles, all of which work on my DSLRs, but I couldn't vote for them because CDS specified EF. . .

Twice lucky, and happy to be there.
I spent half a day yesterday using all of that ancient glass, with some great results and interesting discoveries. Like how great the FD 300 f2.8L is until you put it in a position to deal with flare, and it fails miserably. But that was a weird situation, and thoroughly OT.

I suspect some people's approach to the poll is simply reflecting the pointlessness of these kinds of threads. So, the poll ends and we know what exactly? We know that XYZ member has AB and C lens ... hmmmm, that has really added to my understanding of photography ;) Of course, I also support everyone's right to post pointless polls and let the people speak ;)

very true considering they cost as much as the entire canon line combined...
though i don't have any super-tele primes, i was considering the 400 5.6 as my next purchase, unless i win a lottery and find 5k for the DO.

Well I just sold the 500L IS to Hauff. I will be buying the 300L 2.8 soon. I voted for both.

Not me,.. I'm not really the OP
You know I would have added in Sigmas as well :)
And the 200mm 1.8 which is "Super" for different reasons!
And this not directed at anyone in particular ..
Butl I see no reason why a poll exclusive to EF (AF) teles should draw so much critisism. If the OP is intereted in only who/how many use these specific lenses,. then why add lenses he's not interested in.? Why poll those who don't?
Very odd.
You know.. anyone can make a poll :)

I was thinking Super Telephoto meant something that doesn't have a filter thread on the front, but I'm glad to see the 300mm f/4L IS included.

The EF 300mm f/4L IS but I didn't think it really counted as a super tele this being reserved for for larger and more expensive ones.
