If it is your first publication, then do not haggle about money. Any amount from $100 to $300 will be reasonable. It will give you more milage in publicity.
Be sure to give them one time publication right and insist that they include your name on the printed matter.
Good luck

Just had a quick lok at your site Soumya, beautiful pix. When I have some spare cash I'd love the pic of the tram on the hill with Alcatrazz in the background. I'm slowly savin up to go to San Francisco. Always wanted to go but don't like parting with hard earned cash !

Come up with some sort of a simple contract. What they get to use your image for, for how long, for how much, etc. State they they don't have excluceive usage unless that's your deal, and they can not re-sell the image. Good to do this and ward off any problems in the future. You never know if they will put your image on a half million coffee cups sometime .

Thank you. This is one of my favourite too. I was inspired by one of Thomas Kinkade's painting showing a cable car climbing up the hill of San Fransisco. There was of cource no traffic on road in the painting (except the cable car) which is almost impossible in a real life situation. It was a very tricky shot.
