Hi guys,

First post, long-time Prop90 IS user.

For the first time since I got the camera over two years ago, I need to use the remote control. The problem (and obvious reason for this post) is that I cannot get it to work. The 2-page section of the instruction guide is not of much help troubleshooting this, nor is the Canon website.

Checklist:

1) remote battery fresh and installed properly.

2) remote functioning - can see the IR beam in the Pro90 viewfinder (all CCDs can see IR). I even used a "learning" TV remote with higher IR power to replicate the Canon remote signals - still not working.

3) camera in correct mode - little camera icon on main control dial, all modes tested/failed.

4) Self-timer/remote button activated, displays correct icon in LCD. Self-timer performs correctly.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!

I encountered the same problem after 2 years not using the remote.

Would like to hear from any one too.

You know you are getting a signal out of the remote, the most likely problem is that the camera is not receiving it. Be sure the you have turned on the camera's ability to look for the remote (use the button below the top LCD, turn on the self-timer/remote). See page 107 of the manual...
