I saw all the posts on getting those "cheap" second batteries on ebay suggesting that they may not last as long, but otherwise reasonable. MY QUESTION is whether there is any reason to worry about them harming the camera, or voiding the warranty? Thanks.

The only way I could imagine them harming the Camera is one actually leaked,. but even then if you take action to clean it,. I suppose if the voltage is off enough it could do some sort of damage? But I suspect that the Camera would behave incorrectly before the bad voltage actually hurt it.....
That said,. you dcould try these instead;

MAHA's are good batteries. I also have a couple of the "cheapies" and they also have worked fine. However, I did read recently about a Nokia phone exploding and causing some significant injuries to a lady in Japan. They initially suspected a "cheapie" battery, but I have not read any more about it so do not know the real cause.
I also read on a forum somewhere where someone mentioned something about the "possibility" that these "cheapies" could/might/maybe explode. No documented incidents that I have actually read about.

I bought a "cheap" battery for about $13.00 off eBay for my 10D about 2 months ago. So far the "cheap" battery has performed just as well as the Canon OEM battery with no problems

Thanks for this site (thomasdistributing). It appears more reputable than a battery off ebay. I am waiting to hear from them if they carry a battery for the Canon SD 100 (an NB-3L). Thanks again.

I have been using aftermarket batteries for my D60 for about 2 years now. They are Digipower which I picked up at Good guys for less than half the price of OEMs. I use they interchangably with my OEMs and see no significant difference in battery life.
