I like this shot and I like the idea, but your B&W conversion seems to lack contrast to make it pop. It just seems a bit flat. How did you do the B&W conversion?

I used the in camera conversion, this was before I knew any better. I didn't take any color versions, otherwise I'd try some of the PS techniques.

This needs sky detail for it to work, if you had exposed for the sky, pulling back the midtone/shadow detail from the bushes in PS.
Still, I like where you are going with this.

Read some books on composition. Its more interesting if paths lead out of the pictuture or at least not central.
