Hi, I am new here but find this forum excellent so I am posting my problem now, wish you can help, thanks in advance.

Basically, I have a Canon IXUS 400, it connects to my computer through normal USB connection. I now want to store some of my photos to my Sony Vaio laptop (I don't have floppy/CD with me so the only way I can transfer files to and from the two gadgets is through a PCMCIA/CF reader (since it doesn't requires special driver and so my Win98 on Sony Vaio can read)...

Now, I successfully moved some of the images from my Sony Vaio to the CF card where all the images are normally stored. Then I took the CF card out and put back into my camera and connect to my desktop through USB. Now, I fail to see the images I put into the card, I tried ZoomBrowser, File Viewer, Downloader Pro... all reported there are no images found. However, when I re-opened the CF card using my Sony Vaio, I can see the files...

I suspect it's because those are images I put into the card myself, they are not 'flagged' as Canon images or similar... and therefore I cannot see them through those software... My question is, is there any known method to transfer images from my CF card now back to my desktop, without me buying another card reader for my desktop? (since my desktop can't use the PCMCIA card... and I want to avoid buying yet another reader/adapter)...

If i recall correctly the images have to be in a directory on the CF called DCIM or something similar. The directory should already be on there.
When you copy them from the VIAO are you just putting them in the top level folder on the CF card ?
