They are disco'd and drying up quickly. I'm in distribution and all of the big chains are scrambling to get stock because it's such a hot seller.

Are your sources telling you anything about a G6??

Or get the G6, the specs and shipping date are the most guarded secrets.

I just saw an ad for Best Buy and they announced a $100 price reduction on the G5 now selling for $600.00 in the store, Is Canon getting ready to release another Camera??? So the G3 may be harder to find, or should you wait for the G5 to drop more. Things are moving to fast in the digital camera world :D. Maybe we'll start seeing the prices drop on the DSLR, they're still way over priced in my opinion.

I wonder to discontinue a product that has been such a success. I guess they know better.

May be digital photography is still at the stage when people tend to change their cameras often and pay a lot of money for new and improved equipment every couple of years.

I just purchased the last G3 through my work at a great discount. Had to get it shipped in from somewhere else. I'm glad I acted when I did :)

Just found three locally, bought one of them (might be the last stock in the Country, New Zeland that is!).
Nearly every shop I looked in only had the G5 in stock, and said that they couldn't get the G3 anymore, and anyway why would I want that model when I could have a 'better' G5?
As a user of an old SOny didcam for the last three years and pushing the creative envelope with it to its limit, it will be interesting to see what I can get out of this new toy!

Yeah, I've noticed the price fluctuation since middle of this year. When I bought a G3 for my cousin, he paid close to $720. When my friend bought one this summer, he paid $585. When I bought it last month, I paid $565. When my uncle bought one two weeks ago, he paid $645. All of them at Amazon.com

Seems like it being discontinued is driving up the prices. Hate to see a good camera go, but if the next Gx is good as the G3 with a lot of the 'problems' fixed, I can see our G3s becoming a lot cheaper. Maybe then we can go and stock up on a few more to give out as gifts to people.
