My Mother-in-Law swears she saw this squirrel fly.

That's a great capture. It looks like a red squirrel. The lighting and the colors are excellent. I hear they fly if you pull down hard on the branch and let go.

There is a branch in the background pointing at the back of the head. If possible, you may wish to "burn" it darker in ps.
Nevertheless, the squirrel's color saturation is terrific.

That's not a branch, it's the harness that it was using to fly:)
nice photo, squirrels have such an endearing charm.

Thanks for the comments everyone,
I guess I didn't even notice that branch, now it's really bugging me.
Mr.E, if the squirrel lets me get close enough, I'll give that "Branch Catapult" thing a try.
BTW: I think it's a "Piney" squirrel, I just don't have the heart to tell her it can't fly.:)
Here's another, not sure if it's the same baby, there are three all toghther.

there are a sub species that can glide .. they have flaps between there feet..http://www.dnr.state.md.us/wildlife/sfsquirrel.html
