View Full Version : New G3 can't edit RAW settings

Greetings,

With my new G3 I shot several images in RAW format. The RAW settings are not editable in photoshop 7 and in zoombrowser.

In photoshop I am using the import utility RS-232C. I get two error messages:

1) no camera can be detected
2) A dialog box that says something like that while there are RAW or movie files present the JPEG format can't be parsed

In Zoom browser:

The item in the pop up context menu that controls RAW settings is greyed out and disabled.

I suspect the error is in the way the camera is capturing the RAW image. That said I also may not have the software to view it properly installed. Also I am a very experienced user of the G1 and G2 and it's software.

Does anyone have any insight into what my problems might be? I am simply unable to view from camera in the viewer, edit and aquire RAW images.

Thanks for your time and help,

-Doug.

Are you going direct to ther usb or a junktion box. Somethimes none powered USB juction boxes do not work with different systems. Try going direct and if thats not it uninstall the software and reinstall it.

Thanks for your response. I un/reinstalled all software. Zoom browser can now aquire the RAW files now but no luck with photoshop. I am going to post another question.

Do you have the necessary plug-in for Photoshop installed?

If not, you have to convert the pictures first.

Hmmm, I have a G1 and G2 and have not had to use a plugin to edit the raw files from those cameras in photoshop. Is the G3 different? Does it need the new adobe plug in? If so I will just upgrade to photshop 8 which has it as a native plugin. Please let me know if the G3 is different than the other two cameras as far as accessing raw files goes. Thank you.
