View Full Version : '66 Hemi Belvedere (8.90 seconds!)

Dave's '66 Hemi Belvedere has about 1,000bhp! It's 13:1 compression, .700" lift roller cam, etc, etc. Trans is Hemi 727 pushing a 4.89 Dana rear end. The headers dump into 4" collectors.

Gas mileage is 3mpg, a small price to pay for an 8.90 second 145mph car, no?
;)

OK, notice the plate that almost everyone ignored in the "Stickers" thread? It's back! Who can explain it?

That is one quick looking toy! They have some $$$ in it too...

I'd really like to see that one go down the track!

About that plate.
That looks like the first letters/numbers of the VIN.
I'm not too famililar with pre 70's Mopar numbers, but I have had a few VL29 cars.;)

I'd really like to see that one go down the track! You're aiming low, Kevin. I'd really like to take that one down the track! :D That looks like the first letters/numbers of the VIN. Got it. And it says... whats the power adder? nitrous? No. Detroit talent & an educated right foot? ;) Good eye, rad!

Thanks for the interest, guys.

I don't know about that...

What if I break or crash it... That's a lot of $$$ invested in that machine.

TrainRider

Got it. And it says...

It says that it is a low price 1966 Belvedere two door sedan with the "H" engine.:D
Honestly, I am just guessing that much since I am not familiar with VIN codes in '66. I did go out to the garage and look at my old Mopar Performance Chasis and engine manuals. The only examples I found were for '70 and up. If I went by that it would have had a 340 in it, but that is not possible since the 340 wasn't born until '68.
In other words,................ I'm stumped.:)

IF it was an original Hemi car, it's kind of rare. They only made like 1400 or 1500 of those in '66. I'm going by something I saw, but didn't pay much attention to in the chasis manual. My memory from a few minutes ago may be bad.

It says that it is a low price 1966 Belvedere two door sedan with the "H" engine Close enough! It stumped me, too.
RL - Belvedere
Z1 - Post car
H - hemi
6 - 1966
1 - Built at the Lynch road plant.
What if I break or crash it... That's a lot of $$$ invested in that machine. It's a factor I'll admit. You do have the right attitude though as you're not worrying about your own butt first! :D
Generally, you write them off mentally before you get into them. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to push them to the limit?

Yeah, where's the wheel stand shot :D I'd like to see it, too!

Thanx for the positive feedback i really like the car it could stand them way up but not wanting to bend the chassis and get good ET's i lowered the wheely bars to something more senseable....also i just make runs for fun and i never run eliminations with the car
