I had some free time on my hands and took my G3 to London for an afternoon. Here's one of the shots I almost discarded at the time (looking at the LCD) but now I'm glad I didn't.

I decided to post a few of the others to the gallery below, if you have the time let me know what you think as I'm still fairly new to all this! Your comments are appreciated.

Sorry - guess the gallery doesn't allow pictures to be imbedded? Right click on the red cross and click on properties, then copy and paste the address to your address bar and it should take you to the picture.

What iso did you use?

Nice shot :)

fotopic lets you hotlink/embed,. you just tried to imbed the address of the HTML page that the image is embedded in at fotopic instead of the address of the image itself....

This is the HTML page;
http://stephenb.fotopic.net/photo.php?id=1410796

This is the images addres;

http://images.fotopic.net/?id=1410796&outx=600&noresize=1&nostamp=1

...and if you embed that addrss it will work.

But that address is for the full size image as you uploaded it. (thus I am not going to embed it myself :) )You can not embed the reduced image that the gallery produces. It is for this reason that I upload images that are allready reduced.

Doesn't Fotopic (like most free galleries) only let you image-link off-site if registered (and thus not free)?

Daos - left iso on auto and concentrated on playing around with exposure times.

Thanks CDS - I didn't know that.

Registration is free! You can pay a small fee for all the bells and whistles but I haven't done that.

I don't want to sound pedantic but your 'Big Ben' shot is not Big Ben, it's St. Stevens Tower. Big Ben is the name of the bell inside the tower.

Hi
Nice but some of shots have "barrel" distortion. Did you use an add-on lens?.

Paws, you are "pedantic" and I'm a London boy, everbody, including Londoners call it "Big Ben".

Regards
Alan

Alan,

No add on lens used, and yes there is some distortion. I was just playing around with different angles and I wasn't really trying to achieve anything specific. I had fun though, and learn't a bit more about my camera, which is what the trip was about. I had never really done any night time photography before so I was quite pleased with the results.

And yes, I was well aware Big Ben is the name of the bell!

Thanks!

Yes I mostly used a tripod (imperative for the night shots as exposures were mostly between 0.3 and 2.0 seconds).
