I went out to the same spots as last time (on purpose) to work on better angles. This is where I struggle most. I cant seem to come up with anything creative. These are the shots. Better than last time? Should I give up now? I can handle hard critique. I know that these shots arent perfect, and I can pick out a lot of things I wish were different, but I wanted to hear what other people say as well.

Hmm They look nice. Do you have a CPL Filter?? I think it would definately help these shots out.

It most certainly would. A CP filter is on my list of things to buy, but I dont have the money for one right now.

Nice shots. The third one (driving one) looks almost right out of a BMW catalog.

Sorry, I used ACDSee to batch resize, and i guess it strips out the EXIF info.
The settings used were:
Tv Mode
24mm
1/80s
f/7.1
ISO 200
Ideally in this type of shot, you want shutter speed to be as low as possible. This is why rigs are so popular, they allow you to get into the 1"+ range, something you could never do handheld. Realistically, 1/80s was my limit for this type of shot, handheld, hanging out a car window at 60MPH. Any lower and I would have had horrible camera shake. You want enough DOF to get the whole car in focus, but not too much, because you want all the help you can get from the camera on blurring the background. Set your ISO to give you anywhere from f/4-f/8 on Tv Mode.
Shutter speed is the most important thing in this type of shot, the rest just falls into place to get metering right.

and I can pick out a lot of things I wish were different, There you go! That's how we learn, no? Key is to not look at what's in the viewfinder, but to LOOK at what's in the viewfinder.

Thanks for your input. I was dreading the "Nice start, keep at it" with a link to the lighting tutorial.:D

What is this "Lighting Tips" and why would anyone want to read it anyway.?;)
Seriously though- a very nice series indeed. I like the different angles you've tried.
Now it's time to go to your local dealership, take each 2007 model out for a test drive, take a few shots and make a calendar for next year! (this has always been a project I've wanted to do!)

Lol. I wonder how many cars you'll have gotten to take out for a spin before they catch on or start asking questions. haha

A CP would work really well for #3.
