Hey, if there is a special section for introductions, then I was unaware and I'm sorry, lol.

Anyways, I just ordered my Rebel XT (black). I can't wait to start taking some pictures. Hopefully I'll learn a lot from these forums. I'm kinda of a noob when it comes to digital slrs. I have some experience with cameras though, I used to work Cameras at Bestbuy for about a year. Back when I started working there, the XT was $1k. haha now I was able to get it for $584. :p

Looking forward to becoming an "experienced" photogropher.

hello zero, I'm new too here. I did the same as you one year ago. It's so much fun. Great hobby. Hope to get around here more often.

Cheers all and a big welcome to you; Travis,Zero, Netgarden

Post some pics. Zero, its a cool thing to post your first image IMG_001... there are a fair few here. Doesn't matter how good, its a milestone thing. I only went DSLR last year too.

My first post.

Got my Eos 350D. Ist shot is IMG_0001.JPG which was fine until the 5th shot which suddenly leapt to IMG_5717.JPG

Anyone know why such a massive leap in image numbering?

I know they are a bit naff but these are the first two shots when I got the camera home from work:

It would appear that you swapped memory cards from a previous camera. The camera inherits the count from the card if the count is higher than what is currently on camera.

Would make sense but it was a brand new memory card - I've only ever used a point and shoot before with a Memory Stick - this was a new Compact Flash card . . .

. . . unless that stores ripped me off and flogged me a second-hand card of course!

Some nice shots on your gallery woolburr :)

UPDATE: I have the answer. I suspected the card after your comment woolburr and contacted Sandisk with my card details. Turns out the card is a fake - which fooled me as the packaging is brilliant.

Only problem is - it works. Apparently it's slower but that's not been an issue to me so far. So, do I now carry on using it or buy a legit one in case it's unreliable (which I can't really afford to do!) Questions Questions . . .

Thanks for the warm welcome you guys.

This question is probably been asked a million times on this forum, but other than megapixels, are there any other notable differences between the XT and the Nikon D50? We were originally planning on getting the Nikon but we couldn't pass up this great deal on bhp photo.

sorry about the card northwood, could be someone returned it and it was refurbished or something. we never know anymore. you might try formatting it again.

don't know much about Nikons, but I believe [from what I've read] is that the canon line has less noise and more ISO capabilities. thats all I know. Some canon people value the focus speed of the canon lenses too.

Hi all.....I'm new as well. So far I'm enjoying reading the forums. Just a question......are you guys printing your pics at home?....or getting them professionally developed. If you print at home, what's a good photo printer to buy?

Thanks.

i print my personal things at home with an epson rx600 but would like the canon 6600 or the epson r1800 for a wide format printer. when i have prints done for weddings i get that done at a local photo shop.
