Beatiful Pasadena, CA (Chippewa for "Crown of the Valley") has many wonderful photo opportunities to offer, so last weekend I drove out to hang out and explore a bit. My new G3 and I are beginning to get along a little better and I wanted to put it to work.

On Saturday, I drove out to One Colorado (a shopping district in old Pasadena); finding the area too touristy, I walked over to Castle Green - an annex built in 1898 for the Hotel Green complex. I only got 1 decent shot as there was a Scottish wedding going on there at the time. On to Pasadena City Hall area. I shot in sunlight, at sunset and came back later with a tripod for night shots. There is a pretty episcopal church on one side of City Hall, a memorial dedicated to brothers Mack and Jackie Robinson (Mack won silver in a 200 meter race at the 1936 Olympic Summer Games; Jackie is a baseball hall-of-famer) on the other.

Sunday morning I briefly went up to Chatsworth park, then I drove back to Pasadena to walk around the Bungalow Heaven Landmark District - an area that exemplifies early 1900's Arts & Crafts homebuilding designs. It encompasses an area of about 5-7 city blocks and is located at the foothills of San Gabriel Mountains. Streets here are lined with mature trees, sun was going down and everything was just glowing in its rays. I feebly attempted to carry the mood in my photos.

I thank my G3 for getting me off my butt!
