Im still in deliberation as to whether I should get the a70, s400, or s45 model... ive been ingesting such excessive levels of reviews, to the extent that I feel as though my eyes are about to bleed.. furthermore, im not entirely clear as to the difference between the 400 and 45.... any thoughts?

Yea, I went through the same debate a few weeks ago, I probably spent 10 hours looking at web reviews. I settled on the S45 after playing with each of them at a retailer. The picture quality seems to be very good even though I haven't mastered all the optional setting yet.
If you plan on shooting mostly in the Auto mode you may want to save a few $ and get the A70.

Good luck...my bet is any choice will work out fine

I went through this with the S45 and S400 also.

The responses I received where very helpful:

I have been happy with my S45. I found it is solid enough to sit on a wall to take slow speed night shots. The S400 is so comact I believe this would have been difficult. Also keep in mind the S50 (similar to S45 but with 5 megapixals) has come down in price to about what I had paid for the S45.
