using the sensor cleaner by turning the camera on and off a bunch of times helped get rid of my dust...there was one stubborn spot that i had to rocket blow off though...it is a quick fix, unless you've got tons of dust

You don't have to. It is easy. All you need is a steady hand plenty of light so that you can see what you are doing. I used "Sensor Swab" from www.photosol.com (http://www.photosol.com)
The sensor of my 40D was and still is spotless after two applications.

Great little lens. Great thread. It's wonderful to see the 50 shine like this. Some of those shots are just pure magic.
A few from me. They all went through PS at least for sizing and framing. Many were also touched for sharpness, levels and a few were cropped ( ie the first two, not enough money for a zoom yet but getting there!).

Fair enough!
(Not implying your stupid again lol) But you realize that when someone quotes someone elses images, they're not re-uploading the images to their own server or the sites server, right? They're just re-referencing the links to your original photo?
So, if you took them off of Flickr, anyone who quoted your original pictures, all the pictures in their quotes would disappear, also.

You're not understanding me, The reason I 'quoted' those photos in the first place is so that no one else can 'quote' them. I know what quoting means, I know how it works lol.
Firstly, my cousins photos weren't on flickr, because she doesn't want them on there, I used photobucket.
Second, I think it's an easier way of having photos up for only a short while, clearly, if i've quoted my own photos it's because I don't want them quoted by others so they remain there.
I hope you understand what i'm trying to get at :)

I love these pics!!!!! What a beautiful dog. What breed? I like how it looks like he/she(?) is chewing a piece of grass in #2. And what an awesome name too.
Thank you! He's part Beagle, part something else. My roommate is an EMT and found him in the Trauma Bay of a hospital, hence the name... ;)

Fantastic shots! All were good but the ones above were my favorite. I think you've got a great eye for what to capture!
Thank you! I bought a dslr to take that kind of action pictures of my horse. The nifty fifty is invaluable to me because I do need the larger aperture when there's not much light.

A word of warning - the DoF is razor sharp unless stopped down a bit (set the aperture on camera, then hold down DoF preview button while unmounting).
I found between f/5.6 and f/11 to be the most useable, but you need a lot of light. Either a very sunny day (overcast is best), or a flash.
Good luck!

The focus ring is good. Is there a known issue with them?
Bob has a brick trowel that you can't see, the mortar hawk in the other. My wife bought that for me a while back because I'm a bricklayer and Bob is holding trowel. Ever since I have small collection of Bob the Builder stuff. ;~)
Yeah the color of the mortar seems odd.

The 2nd was me just pure messing with the DOF. I had trouble getting the blur (bokeh?) with the 18-55 IS kit lens, so took loads of shots with the 'fifty' to learn really.
