I have just purchased a 30D to replace my old worn out Fuji camera. I have never had any problems using the Fuji with my old Courtney studio flash and cable. Does anyone know how safe it would be to use the PC cable with the 30D? I am thinking about the trigger voltage when asking this question. I don't know what the trigger voltage of the flash unit is.

My experience has been when in doubt use a safe sync http://www.weinproducts.com/safesyncs.htm. My D60 made a journey to Canon for repairs after using Broncolor Monolights, Metz CT-60 and Photogenic PL06 for lighting. Needless to say, I will never do it again without protection....

If the triggering voltage of your strobe is no more than 250V the 30D won't have a problem with it.

Check here for a great list of trigger Voltages for many devices.
