from KOLO's web site:

"Entries also may be submitted in digital format to www.kolo.com. Images cannot be digitally enhanced or manipulated. Digital submissions should be no larger than 2 megabytes."

So, does it mean no levels or the unsharp mask filter?

From their web site:

By submitting your photograph, you state that the photograph that you are submitting is your own and that it does not infringe U.S. and international copyright laws. You also grant Kolo rights to publish the photograph you submit to the "LIFE" photo contest either in print and/or on Kolo's web site. Entries post marked after June 30, 2004 will be disqualified.

So by SUBMITTING your photo you are handing over rights to print and web usage, worldwide, for an undifined period....

Sounds like this whole thing is a cheap way to populate their web site, brochures, etc., with free images, for as long as they want - rather than a responsible attempt to support photography or photographers.

For those usage terms, even the top pro prize is not exactly generous, and they can use any image submitted without giving a prize....

No wonder so many photographers are finding it harder to make a living year on year, competitions like this and the rise of Royalty Free are undermining library sales........ Glad I don't shoot stock.
