Greetings!
I'm writing to ask for recommendations for my patients. Yes, I'm a doc, trying to help those patients of mine who cannot for whatever reason come into the office. I'd like to get them to send me digital images via email of whatever their problem might be. (I think I can save them a trip in, in many instances.)

The problem is that many are not digital camera savvy. Can anyone suggest a simple system that I can recommend to them where they can easily use a tripod (instead of handholding) and a macro mode when necessary. (A simple point and shoot comes to mind, but I'm open to other ideas.)

Again, a suggestion for the simplest system (and hopefully an inexpensive system) so that I can get meaningful images from them and help them by phone.

Keep in mind many of these folks are elderly and are probably used to range finder and SLR cameras.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

i would keep it simple and get a compact camera - depends on how macro you need it to be........
also the quality of the image - what size pixels will you need to diagnose - remember the bigger the image the larger the file size and are these people on dialup....

i would suggest you carry out some tests on image quality and size first -
you may be able just to use a very cheap 4MP camera
and if you need macro
what the image will be like when taken on a dull day or even at night with just flash
also who is paying for the cameras and tripods
it would be worth a trail with some compacts -
you may even be able to use the video facility too.

i agree, simple p and s, the easier it is for them to load up and send the better I guess
