You can try Clifton Mills, i haven't tried it yet as i'm also new to all this and Centerville, there is a gorge there.
Also just outside Yellow Springs there is a field full of sunflowers which would make a good shot when the are all in bloom, not sure when that is though, would like to know if anyone does.

One of the best (and most frequented) places to go is Devou Park just across the river in Kentucky. Stay on southbound 75 into Kentucky. Go across the bridge, and take the 5th street Covington exit; it's 100-ish yards from the end of the bridge. Go right on Crescent Avenue. Take the first left onto Western Avenue and follow directions there for Devou Park. You'll love the view.
Other good places to shoot the skyline are in Covington itself, at Newport on the Levee. The aquarium is right there, too, and the levee makes for a good family day out. You can walk across the "Purple People Bridge" into downtown Cincinnati. It's cheaper to park in Covington and walk across the bridge, than it is to park in downtown Cincy.
I went to Spring Grove Cemetery this weekend, and it's my new favourite place. So very quiet and tranquil. Apparently it's the second largest cemetery in the US. There's plenty of small lakes, trees, and outstanding mausoleums to fill up a few CF cards. The newer plots to the north aren't much to look at, but pretty much everything from the North Gate exit and down is spectacular.
There's a ton of parks in the area. http://www.greatparks.org/ I live in Fairfield, which is very close to Winton Woods. I take all my "duck" shots with new lenses there. Miami Whitewater Forest and Sharon Woods are also good places to take your camera.
After being here for seven years, I'm finding that Cincinnati is a fairly picturesque place. Who knew!

As strange as this sounds. Our family when i was younger got a family picture taken at spring grove cemetery!! It was on a bridge over looking this little lake/pond. When i used to shoot black and white photos (film) in high school, one of my favorite pictures i took was at spring grove cemetery.

Glad I could help. You might want to check cinweekly.com (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/cinweekly.com) or rodeo.cincinnati.com/ent/events/ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/rodeo.cincinnati.com/ent/events/) for interesting goings-on in the area. This weekend, for example, there's a British Car Show in Dayton, and the World A'Fair at the Dayton Convention Center.
I've never taken my camera to a reds game, but it's worth checking out their camera policy beforehand. It's hidden away in their A-Z Guide of the Ballpark:
Guests are welcome to bring cameras and video recorders into the ballpark for personal use provided game action is not recorded, as required by Major League Baseball. Cameras and video recorders are welcomed provided their dimensions do not exceed the 16" x 16" x 8" Major League Baseball size requirement. Guests are requested to avoid standing in the aisles while using this equipment. Guests should not obstruct the views of others while taking pictures and refrain from using tripods, monopods and other camera support pods. The Reds reserve the right to remove any Guests who do not cooperate with this policy.
The 16x16x8 limitation is that of a bag you bring to the stadium.
I've heard people say that they were turned away at the gate for having "too professional" a camera, but go to another gate and they're let through without any problems. There are lots of people who take SLRs to the game.

Hello to you Brad - I see that you're from Port St. Lucie. Interesting name that - one of the rail cars on our Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway is called the "St. Lucie car."
It is one of those mid 20th century aluminum bullet tailed lounge cars that was prevalent in a lot of genre movies of the era. Apparently the car came from Florida when it was purchased by the CVSR. Two and a half years ago I shot a wedding reception on that train as it travelled between Cleveland and Akron for their wedding excursions; quite a nice excursion.:D

Went To Cleveland for a Toyota class (I work at a dealership) 2 weeks ago during a snowstorm. Went to the airport Marriott off I71. 150th street, I think. My 5th or 6th trip there in the last few years. I really enjoyed my 3 hour drive that took 4.5 hours. Akron-Canton sucked.

I'm glad to hear you got a bit of a raise Scott  and it sounds like you have my old job.
The offices used to be in the old Res, and the darkroom was down the hall from the main office there on the second floor. We'd soup our film - TrX, shot anywhere from ASA 400 to 3200 - on Sunday and Wednesday nights. I also carved my initials at the top of the Beta Bells in May, 1971 when the "Secies" unlocked the tower and let me climb the 85' of latters to the top so I could get "aerial photos" of the demonstrating crowds in from of the Admin bldg. I used a Canon SLR back then too.
If they still store the old galley books there, I'm in issues from 1971-73 under the byline of "Photo By Pearl." :D

It's a small world, :D. The office is now in MacMillan Hall, in the basement (i think it's a fairly new building). I'll be sure to look at the old books next time I go into the office. What did you major in when you went here?

Scott, welcome back home to Westerville. Whereabout in Westerville. I'm in Shellbark Ridge off Old 3C.
I'm from Rittman, OH.. towards Wooster.
I was just in Wooster a few weeks ago. Stopped there while on my way to Mount Union College in Alliance, OH then stopped at Kent State.
I'll be on Oxford in October attending a convention for Ohio College Bookstores. I think I'll take my camera and shoot the campus. Some of the architecture at many Ohio colleges is just gorgeous. I may take a camera with me to work everyday.
