should i get it fixed or leave it, at first i thought it was my sensor, but it definetly is the LCD screen, is it under warranty and would it take long to fix or should i just overlook one dead pixel.

Yep get it back. Just imagine if you take a picture of your favourite mosquito, you won't know if it has got red eye or not.

I bought a new IXUS 700 and that had a dead pixel (red) they replaced it immediately.

dead pixels are not good, i bought a new computer recentlty and they would only change the screen if it had more than 3 dead pixels

that's pretty good, most monitors are 8 or more. What is the return policy for canon bodies? You can sometimes "massage" a dead or stuck pixel back to life, but if it's covered under warranty and you can deal with not having your camera for a bit, then i'd do it.

i'de say get it fixed only if you really want to. my computer monitor had about 5 dead pixels 3 months in, but i decided that 3 bad pixels out of >1 million wasn't as bad as not having my monitor for 1 month while they repair it. since you really don't need the preview screen on the rebel anyway (maybe to look at the histogram, but that's about it), it's not really a big deal.. remember, only 229999 pixels left to burn out now ;)

btw, my xt has a dead sensor pixel (hot pixel) in the bottom middle, but i'm just not going to bother fixing it at the cost of loosing my camera for several weeks. better to photoshop a 3x3 box than not having the picture!

This blurb is from Canon's XT Rebel manual on page 9 of the .pdf file. Hope this helps. The same blurb is also in my 30D's manual.

"Although the LCD monitor is manufactured with very high precision technology with over 99.99% active pixels, there might be a few dead pixels among the remaining 0.01% or less pixels. Dead pixels displaying only back or red, etc., are not a malfunction. They do not effect the image recorded."

thank you for all of the input, i called canon and they said they probably wont fix it unless there are three or more dead pixels, and yes there still are 299999 pixels left, doesnt bug me enough to get it fixed, now i just have to do something about the grip my little brother destroyed
