Hi!
does anybody from you uses the EC-H or EC-D focusing screen on your 10D. I was wondering if this could help when I'm using manual focus. i.e. with a macro lens or with an other lens.
any experiances?
thanks
regards
Peter

additional to the original post!
originaly I wanted a splitted focusing screen (like mine at my old praktika :-)
unfortunatelly there is no splitted screen...
what about the AF Fields? are they aligned the same way at the EC-H or EC-D?
thanks
Peter

It's my understanding that the focusing screen is fixed on the 10D. The two screens you mention fit the EOS 1, 1N, D1, and cameras of that ilk. I'm quite sure they wont' work on a 10D.
Anybody care to chime in?

I phoned canon austria and told them that I want to change my focusing screen and they give me that two!
EC-H and EC-D. I asked if they fit on my 10D, because I thought like you belmondo, that these are for EOS 1 only. but they said they fit!
any other official canon statments heard?

The 10D focusing screen is not replaceable.

But why Canon Austria then give me these two products? He has a list, in wich he found this information!
also, I cant imagine, that it is absolutely not replaceable. But I'm not sure. I think I will phone canon again tomorrow and will ask again!
Then I will give you a concrete information!

The 10D focus screen is easily removed and can be replaced. However, it should not be done unless you are confident that you won't either damage the screen or scratch the mirror in the process.
I am not aware of any screens that are recommended for the 10D other than the original which can be purchased as a spare from Canon.

Ok, the focusing screen may be replaceable, but I'm pretty sure it's not designed to be replaced by anything else. Just look at the EOS System Chart (http://canoneos.com/syschart081103.pdf). It clearly shows that there are no focusing screens available for the 10D.

So I phoned Canon Austria again today! Unfortunatelly there is NO replacement focusing screen for the 10D and 300D. The guy yesterday told me absloutelly the wrong thing!
So thanks to all of you guys! Its definatelly better to disscus things here, then trusting any official statments
best regards
Peter
