4000th Post /Owl Series....4 Cool Memories from the past year

To celebrate 4000 posts I thought I would post an Owl photo from this past winter for each 1000 posts. Cool down memories for a warm July.I have not posted these before although the first resembles a profile of the same owl taken at the same time and posted this past winter.

Two Great Gray Owls and two Snowys ( one Juvenile or female and one mature male...leening post). All taken with Canon Rebel XT , Canon 200mm F2.8 and 1.4 x TC....C and C always welcome!

I still remember the cold walk accross a farmer's field to get this shot

One of the last times I photographed this Owl this year. The only time where the sun showed the lens covers in his eyes.

Congratulations on your 4000 posts. I've only been here a short time, but
have enjoyed it. These are very nice shots. I only have limited experience
with owls, but they seem to make very good subjects.

gary, i like no3 best, but no1 makes me laugh at his expression, as if he's suddenly realised how cold the snow is on his bottom!! no4 is a definite garfield expression! Beautiful photos again.

No's 2 and 3 appeal more to me. No 2 for it's lovely 'Christmas Card' feel, and that you managed to get the white owl against a dark background. But No 3 has such immense impact and atmosphere I'm bowled over.

Thanks Dan and thats right...you and Wayne pointed me in this direction late last summer ...amazing how quickly that time blew by........this site can be a little addictive;) Before you know it we will be out Owl hunting with our Canons again...in the big freeze :cry: Oh well the whole summer still and the fall to enjoy first.
