Do you have a Canon repair place in Australia? You might just have to bite the bullet and give them a call. I doubt the warranty will cover it, but they might give you a break on repair costs. Maybe. It's worth the call. I just broke a lens that was still under warranty - the damage was my fault, which I owned up to. I was worried about the cost, as the lens ran close to six hundred US dollars back in February.
They sent me an estimate for ninety dollars and it's being repaired as I type - I hope to have it back by the end of the week. Since it was under warranty, I don't think they charged anything for the estimate. It's worth a try, and good luck.

It's very unlikely that the warranty will cover a broken LCD. However, it shouldn't be a horrendously expensive repair. Ring a Canon service centre and ask for a quote - they can probably give you a figure for a new LCD as it is, I suspect, quite a common repair.

You broke the LCD. Not a warranty repair. Try canon for repair not a camera store that may want to sell you a new camera. Good luck.
