The 42nd Highland Regiment, a reneactment society from Southern england performing at Scone Palace Scotland. Their dress and equipment is of the Napoleonic era, Ie Waterloo, 1815

The drummer boy is 12, this is the age a drummer boy of 1815 would be on enlistment. They were sent to the rear in battle, and carried out other duties such as messengers etc.

Just stunning ... love the guy just to right of middle in the last image with eyes closed and leaning away from his weapon! :-) They are beautiful with superb color. But that would not have been a grand time to live in the war zone, sigh.

Thanks Dwight
Because of heavy rain and every effort for the men 'to keep their powder dry' there were a few mis fires as you can see.

Apperntly they didnt fight in the rain

It is sad that the present day regiment (The Black watch) whose most recent tour was in Iraq, have been disbanded this year to make way for the new Scottish 'Super Regiment'

300 years of history dont mean much to the politicians with budgets..

Don't get me started - they're still not forgiven for eviscerating The Gordon Highlanders in our house.

This is the best stuff to participate in. But the pix are the next best.

Re the feral politicians...well its the post-modern cultural cringe at work. They import and encourage foreign cultures, anything pertaining to dead white males of our heritage is white-anted. Not PC.
