View Full Version : ImageMagick worked 1.5b2 then...

Hey Pekka,
This is bugging me. I had the ImageMagick +profile '*' parameter during 1.5b2 from doing a 1.22 install, upgrade to 1.3, then upgrade to 1.5b2.

I only had a few photos set up, so i figured that I would delete my db's and clear everything out and use the new beta web instructions (1.5 beta 4 FULL INSTALLER with Fix 1). (Then copied the your final beta4 full files on top)

i deleted then re-created my db, uploaded all the files and followed directions. (i.e. all the correct folders are chmod'd to 777.

so, now when i try the imagemagick module set up, it fails to create the result.jpg. In the temp ftp dir, it has result.jpg.0 and result.jpg.1

but, i can go to the resize method editor and use imagmagick preview and see the resized result.jpg fine, only IF i uncheck the "Remove Profile". (resize, sharpen, and watermark work fine).

I clearly remember that the single quote *, was the profile that worked for me a couple weeks ago, but none of them work now.

I use a web hosting service, so could a newer installed version of imagemagick, changed the profile setting? I'm just grasping as straws. I don't know what else could be different.

Thanks

Any other ideas? Frustrating because this was working during 1.5b2.

Check all resize methods: you must have NOTHING on "extrasettings" textarea.

Delete result.jpg.0 and result.jpg.1 from temp dir.

Then test each profile command on graphics module setup page. Set your browser's cache off while testing. One of those 3 profile choices MUST work.

After test works, tick "remove profile" on in resizemethods editor.

Pekka, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I've tried all that.
I have no clue at all why the profile isnt working (since, I had it working before i redid the whole EE install).
All, resize methods work with any setting turned on or off until i add the profile setting.

I can live without the profile setting, since I usually don't use the exif settings anyway. I'll probably ask the server admin to run the imagemagick command directly and see what happens.

Otherwise, I'm stumped.

I still have a couple of ideas to try. I'll have to go now and play couple of symphonies and I'll write more after that.

I had similar problems as you - it worked and then suddenly didn't. This may not be your problem - but what I was finding was that the Imagemagick command would fail and all images for a picture ended up at full size and the various tests worked fine. It ended up that, amongst other issues (like the profile problem) I had a corrupt image that I was trying to resize from (and as luck would have it, it was the one I was testing resizing with). The image had been truncated in the upload and when Imagemagick tried to resize it errored out.

It seems that its fairly easy to only partially upload images and these then cause problems. Perhaps the FTP times out in the middle?. I would prefer it if the image was not transferred at all in this case.

Take a look at the image you are working on and make sure its not corrupt.

If thats not it, Pekka will quickly fix it when he has time. He kindly logged into my system, took a look around and soon everything was back in order....
