View Full Version : Epson 2200 -- Swapping Ink Tanks

I just bought some Matte Black ink and want to print a few photos using that and the Enchanced Matte paper. However, I normally print using Premium Semigloss or Luster with the Photo Black ink.

My question is this -- is it alright to swap the tanks back and forth? Or, will the ink dry out if one of the tanks isn't used for a week or two? If it's alright to swap them back and forth, is there a "preferred" way to store the ink tanks to keep them from drying out?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!!

I've not done any swapping of the black inks. The reason is that accourding to reviews you use up a lot of ink purging the lines when you swap from photo black to matte black and visa versa. So I just leave the photo black in my printer and won't change unless I have a real reason to and a lot of prints to do.

It's never good to leave the inks sitting around... even if they are in the printer. I try to print something regularly just to keep the heads from clogging.

I've had my 2200 for about 6 months and have yet to use the matte black. For what I do at the present time it's a useless cartridge.

Having said that, if I were you I'd call Epson and get their take on this.

Good luck
