I took this shot yesterday in Luxembourg City. I caught the sunlight reflecting off the building across the street at just the right time so as to illuminate the row of fruit. I would appreciate any constructive criticism. Did I make good use of available light? Which shot do you prefer, the B&W (done in pp) or color (very little pp applied). I did lose some detail in conversion but I still have the RAW image for printing. Thanks in advance for comments.

B+W. Gives the appearance of an old-time fruit stand.

Both work for me. Just a bit more contrast in both, and some more saturation (just a hair) on the second. Very nice shots. Lucky you on the light. Good eye.

I think both work
but the b+w looks much better on here... sharper...
it's kinda hard to tell because a 100kb black and white with no colour information to compress will have more detail than a colour image of the same size..
theres so much more information in the colour version that something has to be lost in the resize...
(compare the oranges grapes and mangos) in both shots and the black n white looks much sharper

I like the b&w better, it looks like a post card.

Definitely the B&W. Really nice shot. I was in Luxembourg on business for a couple of days last year and have to admit that it's a very picturesque place. I definitely concentrated more on taking pictures than on my meeting!
Nice reminder, nice shot!

Thanks for your comments, Wes (and everyone). Bringing to mind thoughts and memories is what photography is all about IMO. Glad to know one of mine had that effect.

What would be really cool is if you could do a part of it in color, then the rest in B&W. Like a basket of fruit or something. Make the item really stand out.

Here's another vote for the B&W. Great shot.

I agree... selective color on the fruit and baskets would be great. I like the color of the fruit but that green felt or whatever it's on is hidious in color but quite nice in B & W

I like the old time fruit stand look of the B&W, but both look great.

Normally I'd always say colour - but B&W here. It's a really lovely and interesting shot like this but in colour it's a bit well, pointless.
