It seems cheaper lenses are more kindly on Rebel 300 than the 10D.
The posts seem to give this impression. Owners of Rebel 300 seem to talk less of very expensive lenses, while the 10D talk of things like "you get what you pay for them" and some even mention L type lenses.

I would surmise at least two factors contributing are these,

1. The DRebel at it's "lowest price DSLR" offering is bringing in a new wave of photographers that are less likely to see the need (real or perceived) for higher priced lenses. I know this full well as I was one of the same sort of wave of new SLR owners that the 10D ushered in,. and went through the same lens quandry and sticker shock!

2. Many of the 10D owners are in fact seasoned pros,. who have long ago decided on a need for top notch glass in there work. On top of that some of us nonpros have now had our 10Ds for a long time and may have developed our own Ideas about what glass is required for best results,.

Perhaps people with 300Ds have lower standards. That would be evidenced by the fact that they purchased a camera that essentially amounts to a watered down feature reduced 10D. If features and the absolute best quality available were the only consideration when making a purchase then canon wouldn't be able to sell digi rebels by the dozens.

Fact is, like with the EOS IX APS camera, canon doesn't expect people who buy 300Ds to be rushing out to buy L glass. It is a comsumer camera just like all other rebels. The fact that it is digital doesn't change that. This is not a slam to it's image quality or the skill of the owners. I shot an entire wedding once on a Rebel when my EOS-1 failed. It is a market fact. That is why it ships as a kit with a lens.

Flame on!

the reason a lot of people buy the 300D and not the 10D is because of price, therefore it's not surprising those same people aren't too concerned about L glass because they can't really afford it...

Also, I've noticed that it isn't so much the case that most 10D users on forums are seasoned pros, it seems to be that they all THINK they're seasoned pros (and before you get all defensive, i'm not dissing you all, but you can't deny there is a lot of snobbery on these sorts of sites)
