Here is one last photo from my vacation last month.

This is one of those photos I like more each time I look at it. The problem is I am not sure if I like it because it brings back good vacation memories or because it's a good photo. I really like how the curve of the tree branch in the upper left corner matches the shape of the cliff. What is your opinion?

If you like this more each time you look at it, I sure as heck am not going to pan the shot!

MY VIEWING SITUATION:

On my monitor -- which is bright, but hopefully acurate (although not scientifically calibrated) the foreground leaves are shaded, so we see the mountain against them and the blue sky.

CRITIQUE
********
I like it -- but I do not know such mountains. I would however like to see a bit more color saturation, and a slightly darker image to increase the reds and reduce the haze. If the result would be "unreal and unrepresentative of the scene" then I would call for another shot that sets the mountain awash in the magic hour.

Howie-

Thanks for your input. You are right about the colors not being saturated enough. I found out today that the brightness of my monitor was turned down. Several people commented that my vacation pictures looked hazy and undersaturated. To me the colors looked right on and I dismissed their comments. Anyhow, I read your critique and it got me thinking something was off with my monitor but I didn't do anything about it. Today, I did some quick editting and printing. The prints came out looking really light compared to what I was seeing on my screen. Finally, I figured it out and turned up the brightness on my monitor. Suddenly a bunch of photos I thought were slightly underexposed looked fine.

My new roommate must have adjusted the brightness when I wasn't home. Too bad I editted all my vacation pictures using the wrong monitor settings.

Thanks for helping me solve a mystery.
