Tripod Recommendation?

I am looking for a good semi-pro tripod ($200 range). Can someone recommend a good one? Thanks.

It's more expensive, but it won't shake and you won't need another one for a long time. The Gitzo Reporter Mountaineer G1228 combined with the "Ultimate Ballhead" by www.Acratech.net is a great combination. It doesn't pay to buy an inexpensive tripod. You'll be unhappy and then want a better one. By the time your done you'll wind up spending more.

this thing is ROCK solid, very easy to use, and pretty light as well.

Mine has a Manfrotto 486 Ballhead as well

We went with the Bogen 3221WN. With a 3030 QR head and strap it was $222 from BH. We picked 2 of these up just prior to our recent vacation and loved working with them. They are the wilderness version so they may be a bit heavier than some others, but they stay where you put them. I do like those spiked feet in the soil, and the rubber retractable pads.

I got a Gitzo 1220 metal tripod about a month ago and I've been using it with my year old Gitzo Magnesium ball head. So far so good.

I recently purchased the Manfrotto 3051 and Bogen 486RC2 ball head. It’s a little heavy, so I really wouldn’t want to carry it around with me all day, but it’s very rigid, and sets up quickly --- one lever releases all three legs at once. I’m probably going to be getting a more substantial ball head someday, but I think I’ve bought my last set of legs for quite a while.
