finally remembered to take camera and tripod to the show last night. Of course, after the fact, realized that I should have changed the two second delay thing, but there's always next year.
Here's some samples.

Very nice!

I took my S2 with me to our local fireworks display last night and really didn't get any decent shots (mostly due to the humidity holding the smoke from the rockets in the air and putting a haze over every shot.).

What settings were you using, just the Fireworks setting??

I just went with the fireworks setting. I did use a tripod, and as I said, things might have been even better, had I remembered to reset the 2 sec. delay to the original default setting.
I'm really lucky, in that I live in a rural community, and the annual fireworks display goes off in the field next to my neighbor's house. (The county sewage system is located there, and it's closed to the public)
There is a paved road that only she has access to, and we set our lawn chairs up and watch the display, while being eaten by mosquitos. <g>

Very nice job. I also got some shots last night. I used the fireworks setting for a few shot but then just changed to manual. I took most of mine with 4 second times. Unfortunately, the fireworks were a bit low and all my shots have a tree covering about 1/4th of the firework. Here are a few of mine from my Hotel in Gatlinburg, Tn.:

Great shots both Nancy and Stefan!!!! :)
Thank you both for sharing.

I am impressed with what the S2 can do!.

I tried shooting firewords on July 1st(Canada Day), with my S2 and didnt have success at all. I too used the fireworks setting.
There is always next year!

that's funny, i had the same problem. not to mention that i was downwind from them also so that made the smoke go right in front of the. so sad.

You are not too far from Ohio. Just go and buy some. :) Or can you get good ones in Canada?
