Here's my first real try at bird photos, and I had a wonderful, cooperative subject, a friendly hummingbird that landed near my porch. (though in reality I think he was ready to fight me if I came too close to his hummingbird water, lol!) He let me get within 5 feet of him, and posed for me  I put my S2 button sound effects on the bird sound, which he literally listened to with curiousity, lol I have been working with different apertures and shutter speeds in Manuel, so I'm very new to this. Let me know what yall think. :) By the way, I did enchance a bit on Photoshop, just added some contrast and saturation since it was pretty dull and cloudy outside.

Listening to me:

These were taken about 5 ft away, all I did to these photos was sharpen and resize.

well done, iv,e never seen a live humming bird but know how small they are, the one on the stick looks like he was dozing off, was this a young hummingbird?

Great shots, especially the last couple. How clever to entice him with the sounds of another bird! He looks like he was "styling" for the birdie in the camera. :-)

I'm not sure, I don't know anything about wild birds really. I do know he is really territorial! He kept fighting off other hummingbirds from getting his stick :)

Hehe, I do think he noticed the sound, he kept cocking his head at me like in photo #1 everytime I'd hit a button.

Very nice. I get a lot of them near me. But they are always flying and they are pretty fast.

as a very ameture birder I would offer the suggestion that all the hummers are "ruby-throated hummingbirds"

It is usually the only himmingbird on the east soast.

Pretty3horses is in Texas and Dale in Tenn so that pretty much limits options.

I suspect Dale caught a juvenile at sunrise or sunset to get the yellow color
