I have problem with my Ixus, 3 years old. Problems started about one year ago.

The display indicates low battery after about 3-5 pictures and the camera turns off after a few more. I change to one of my spare batteries and the same thing occurs again.

I have now 4 batteries in use, two Canon original NB-1L and two other, bought on a netshop, marked as compatible with NB-1L. The charger is original, delivered with the camera.

Does anyone else have solved this problem so you can tell me if it's the camera, the charger or the batteries I shall change?

Strikes me you could have one of the following problems (or a combination)

1. The batteries are dying.
2. The batteries are no good.
3. The charger is not working properly.
4. Something is wrong with the camera.

It's unlikely all 4 batteries are dying, so it has to be the camera or the charger. Can you borrow a battery you know to be good? Can you borrow a battery charger? One final thought - the A70 will shut down and say 'change batteries' - but I have found that if you remove and reconnect the batteries you can squeeze a bit more life out of them. I wouldn't risk taking pictures with low batteries as you can have problems caused by the camera shutting down unexpectedly (It having already warned you!) But playbackmode is safe to use I think. It's not caused me any problems so far. If you find you can review for a long time before the batterery dies a second time then It may just be it needed to be charged from flat and so this may fix the problem. Best of luck.
