My local paper has a shot on page three today of the arrest of a woman wanted across several states for multiple credit card fraud and identity theft. The thing that caught my eye was the MASSIVE red eye in the shot. She looked directly into the camera as the shot was taken and had been in a dark area. This means her pupils very very large and hence more red eye. This being so easy to fix it looks just like the photoeditor is trying to make her out as evil by leaving this in the shot. Seem to reek of tabloid journalism - oh wait, it was a tabloid.

You often find a shot is post processed to improve the looks of the subject, not often do you find one that is edited to degrade a person's looks. Makes me wonder how often this happens.

I think it's against ethics for news agencies to post process shots in such a manner except cropping, so I too would have kept the photo as shot and not digitally manipulated the red eye out.

The whole OJ thing a few years back brought this issue into the forefront. Most credible news agencies do not edit their photos now as a result.

Cheap paper - can't even budget for a flash bracket.

Got to laugh though. The situation could be that the shooter submitted a assignment thinking it would run in mono.
