Went back to Duranbah today. The swell is easing so there was not a lot of great stuff to be shot.
Same setup as usual....20D and 400mm 2.8 with 1.4 extenda

Nice work still, even if the surf wasn't as good. Do you shoot with a Circular Polarizer on? Like your web site and work there also.

I think I've only surfed a d'bar once. I ride a goat boat. Or at least did, haven't been on it in about 7 years. Used to be in the Gold Coast Wave Ski club many years ago. We mostly surfed beach breaks between Kingscliff and Cabarita back then. I used to take out my T70 with a 70-210 and a 2x on it. Got a few ok shots of some airs but nothing real special.

Keep thinking of getting back into it again but that would mean a new ski as I'm 10kg more than I was back then. Was pushing the limit of what the ski could float back then so no way today. More into the photography these days and any money for a new ski could go towards new camera gear. Been thinking about finding some decent ski riders to shoot myself as you can get some spectacular moves.

Lovely photos.

I really must give this a try sometime... the shooting - not the surfing! LOL

Trevi, is there a signficant amount of cropping in these? They all look a little soft. is that just because of the TC?

Yes there is "some" cropping. I usually post the full shot but this week I am in a slashing kind of mood and have always wanted to see what just the action without any extra look like. I thought I would post the results and see what comments I get.

Here is the original of the first The rest have been cropped about the same amount

I usually go tight too, but I like yours a little wider. The color is beautiful and the sky and water make a beautiful backdrop for the sufer and white water in motion. Do you mind if I post a photo on your thread? I want to show you how ugly the water is here. Maybe you can take my guy out and put him on your water.

You don't have to TRY to make me jealous. Our water looks like it might be full of sewage. I can't get my photo to upload. Darn, it was a "beauty".

Here it is. This is one of the skimboarders I told you about riding at the Wedge.

Eeeeek, this looks so ugly next to yours.

hahaha your right Erica, it is a sad looking colour.
Memo to self: do not move to SoCal.:D

But those skimboarders must make for great action shots...
