I've decided to get a rebel xt. The cheapest actual price ive found from a reputable source is B&H at $765 after shipping. However, I decided to check out Newegg. I found they are more expensive, but shipping comes out to make it about $10 cheaper at $755. Oh yah, both are before the $100 mailin.
Anyway, I checked both of their return policies, and found B&H really doesnt have much of one besides 14 days. Newegg has 30 days return/refund and 1 year exchange for same product. Now, I recall a couple years ago when I use to be huge into computer building, I'd order from Newegg all the time without ANY problem- in fact probly the best service/support I've got on the net. I had to RMA a few things to them and was never given a problem. I think one thin I RMAed to them bout a month or so over the year policy and they let me exchange it without a fuss.
Now, how about cameras? I understand b&h is "the best", but what makes them the best if their policy isnt outlined too well and is more expensive?
Oh, and does anyone know if Dell is coming up with that $200 off the Rebel anytime soon before the $100 is up?

I've never bought a camera from Newegg just a printer and had no probelms.
But---you should also check out Costco.com. I bought the Canon PS S3 from them even though I could get it slightly cheaper elsewhere because they have a complete satisfaction return policy. No time limits to worry about and no restocking fees. And you can return it to any of their stores. It was great peace of mind to know that if something went wrong on day 31, for example, I could still bring it back and exchange it without any hassles. It's a great policy and hopefully they will continue to do it and people don't abuse it.

I bought my A620 from them and they are great. I have dealt with them on multiple computer parts purchases also.
I had to send my A620 back to them due to a factory defect and had a new camera sent back to me promptly. They are a great company and I have never had a problem with them. They are not always the cheapest, but their service is next to none for an online retailer. They are cheaper than most though.
The only thing you have to watch out for with them is the fact that they charge shipping by the item, not by the order. So if you have multiple items you need to order from them the shipping can add up. Every now and then, they run free shipping coupons, which helps.

I recently bought a little Canon P&S for my parents. Newegg and B&H were about the same price but I got a free 1 gig SD card from Newegg, needless to say I ordered from Newegg.

"once you know you'll newegg" theyve always been great for me for computer stuff, if i wanted a piece of camera gear and it was cheaper there then b&h (which i usually use) i wouldnt be afraid to use them. great fast shipping, great service.

I use newegg for a lot of computer stuff. As a company they have a great rep.
Take a look at the authorized Canon dealer sticky and you will notice that newegg is on the unauthorized dealer list. Don't know how close Canon (third party) checks those rebate forms or if they may have now added newegg. If I was counting on a rebate, I would go with B&H to be sure, since receiving a rebate is hard enough as it is.

edit- just contacted Newegg and they said they are an authorized retailer.

I've bought mostly memory and stuff like that from them. They are a reputable store. I don't expect any problems from them or b&H.

As stated, the info provided came from Canon. (When I spoke to newegg, rep said "they should be, since they sell the product", thus my reasoning for contacting Canon themselves.
I do like newegg, but if it came down to receiving a rebate and difference between questionable "authorized" and known authorized retailer and the $$ amount was like $10 as the OP stated, then it would B&H for me.
Just so you know, there are many, many, many unauthorized retailers that still advertise various rebates.
Again!!! I am not knocking newegg, just throwing out something to be aware of....those darn Canon rebates can be hard to get as it is.

Newegg is a great retailer,. I would not hesistate to buy from them,. but for a camera I would not look to save a few bucks shipping over B&H.

anyone ever had to return or exchange anythign to b&h? that return policy seems a little....nonexistant. im sorta willing to risk the $100 rebate if i can get a full 1 year exchange through the retailer ontop of the 1 year warranty instead of 14 days
then again, if i know for a fact that newegg wont be honored, i might just buy it from Walmart at $700 and have basically a lifetime warranty :)

I would never hesitate to purchase anything from Newegg. I got a 5D and BG-E4 grip, Canon i9900 printer and 2 Kingston Ultimate 2gb SD cards from them. Fast shipping, great customer service. Never any issues. Besides those said items, I almost always buy from B&H.

Actually, if you use the PSMAY06 code for B&H they've got a great price on the XT right now:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D) 8.0 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Body (Black)
Mfr# PSMAY06007 • B&H# PSMAY060072
Our Price: $ 659.95
Not sure where you need it shipped to, but it shouldn't be that much. Good luck.

Hmm being in the Walmart Corporate Office, I'll keep my eye out for you.......nah just kidding; I don't have anything to do with Walmart, but you never know who is watching.

I buy most of my computer stuff and cards from NewEgg. Love that company! I think I got my RebelXT (350D) from there, also. Often, B&H is cheaper for photography stuff, but NewEgg rules for computer stuff! Plus, they're FAST! :-)

Ive bought about 8 grand of computer parts fron Newegg and never once has anything not been in good shape for me. Infact im looking to buy some 2gig cards at half the price i can find a 1gig here in Tokyo. im not sure i will buy a camera from newegg beings i can get them here on Base(US military) and no matter what i do to the camera for 4 year (1 year free and 3 years for 70 bucks) they will replace parts or replace camera even if its my fault.
