Does anyone use a mono pod at gigs or any live events? My wife finds the combination of 20D and 70-200 2.8 IS too heavyfor her after 10 mins of shooting. Anyother ideas?

use lighter primes.

It's really hard to fit in and/or stay mobile with support inside a crowd/venue. I'd say use some fast primes if possible as well.

I agree ... she should get rid of the grip and use small, fast primes (very expensive, of course, after the 50mm f/1.8 and maybe 85mm f/1.8.) I would wonder why anyone would try shooting with equipment that outweighs them in the first place. OTOH, I shoot with a 1D Mark II and 300mm f/2.8L IS handheld ... I have attached an example ... resized and sharpened only.

I guess I am also wondering why she isn't asking rather than you? After all, husbands are notorious.

Oh, and I also set it up this way sometimes, too: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1687885&postcount=374

She is not a member, that's why I posed the question. Thanks for advice

I use a monopod in the crowd sometimes. If there's a ball head on it, and you set that loose, you can walk through the crowd with your camera hangin' on your shoulder. The monopod will hang down, and be out of the way. Be carefull not to get it tangled in your legs.
In very crowded places, it might be a hindrance, and obviously you can't use it in a dancing or otherwise moving crowd...
Other ideas: Keep trying: muscles will build up, and the lens will be more managable ;)
