In Photoshop 7 does anyone use any different techniques bar greyscale when printing off a mono print.
I usually for colour go to levels, greyscale then sharpen edges.
Any better techniques for mono out there?

There's lots of other ways. Here's one:

Using the info from 1 channel (or combining 2) can produce a more interesting G/Scale image than simply desaturating colour (which is not how colour film reacts to light anyway).
Once there an image can be RGB/CMYK/LAB and interesting split toning effects produced by using Levels or Curves.
There's tons of free info on this stuff on the internet and plenty of great PS books out there - and plenty to learn :)
