I decided to finally share my pictures here. I was showing them to some friends, and everyone liked them besides another girl that is into photography. I'm not sure if she just always has to be better than everyone else, or if they are really actually crappy . The reason why I'm posting them here, instead of in a Photo sharing section is because i want to know what fellow S2 owners think. I dont post much, but I visit this site nearly every day. The pics had to be resized, so they lost some of the quality.

I think they look pretty good. I've only had my S2 IS for about 3 months and thought about taking some of the fireworks Tuesday night. But with a two year old I decided against that pretty quick.

April, those are very good!! I'm very impressed by the colors, against the black sky. A slightly longer exposure may have given you some longer trails, but that might have messed up those terrific stars in the last one. I'm sure somebody will ask you if you recall the settings you used, so I'll get it over with and ask now. These will be great examples for those who say you can't get good fireworks shots with an S2 or other small camera. Well done!

LOL I got mine about 3 months ago, also... and have a 2 year old as well :)

Although, she sat with her daddy, and aunt the whole time while I shot away.

 Thanks :D That makes me feel so much better. The girl that didnt like them was actually saying she thought that the black sky ruined the pictures, and that they were dull. I'm glad I put out a good example for the S2. It truely is a nice camera!

Lol I'm not familiar with photography jargon- but I used the M mode and had 2" and f/8.

Good enough! That's Manual mode, 2-second exposure, aperture of f/8. And I would guess you used a tripod, or otherwise steadied the camera on some stable object.

Yup, I used a tripod. LOL no way I could have done it without.

I also think that those are excellent shots. Did you do something special to get the stars? I think some people prefer there to be some sort of background other than sky to get a sense of perspective, or to add interest. For example, there were some fireworks shots on one of the other forums that had the statue of liberty and the NY skyline in the background. But still, I think you did a very good job.

No, I didn't do anything special for the stars. It was pure luck, I guess. I would have tried to get some landmarks and such in the pictures, except I was in a horrible spot. Even to get a tree line, I would have been too low to get the actual firework.
