I was trying to figure out where a tiny dark spot on the view finder on my 350D came from, I shined a flashlight into the lens and I was totally disgusted to see a dozen of speckles of dust inside the lens, one of them is quiet large. By the way I still couldn’t figure out the dark spot in the viewfinder, I swapped my kit lens on and it’s still there.

dust that you see in the viewfinder is on the focus screen. take the lens off, look up inside your camera and you will see a ground glass screen. dont touch it, just blow off any dust with a rocket blower.
dust that you see on your photos is on your sensor (it looks like dark out of focus smudges, becomes apparent at small apertures). you can use a blower on the sensor - enable cleaning mode on the 350d, the mirror flips up and you can give it a blow again, dont touch it!, or you can use another cleaning method.
dust on your lens is highly unlikely to affect your photos.

Yeah, any dust in or on your optics is very very unlikely to ever be noticable in a photo.
